KUALA LUMPUR: Two Bangladeshi construction workers were killed when a hill slope collapsed onto the ''kongsi'' house they were living in at Batu 12, Jalan Hulu Langat, early this morning.
Rana, 40, and Masudrana, 22, died after being buried under mounds of earth while sleeping in two separate rooms of the ''kongsi'' house.
Kajang Fire and Rescue Station Operations head, Ahmad Hisham Abdul Rahman, said the incident was caused by heavy rainfall at about 2am.
It is learned that a third worker broke his leg in the incident.
"There were four persons in two rooms of the ‘'kongsi’' house. Two victims were buried in the landslide covering 18 square metres, while two others survived.
"The buried victims were removed by their friends before firefighters arrived, and were pronounced dead by medical personnel," he said.
Ahmad Hisham said they received a report about the incident at about 4.09am, before a fire-engine with six personnel and officers from the Kajang Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene.
"The bodies were handed over to the police for further action," he said. -- BERNAMA
