Two fresh university graduates charged with 23 counts of pimping

PETALING JAYA: Two men were charged with prostitution-related activities involving the pimping of five women since 2016.

The duo, friends Khairul Azzua Yusoff and Mohyuddin Ahmad Fajarudin, faces 23 charges for “living off immoral earnings” and acting as intermediaries in the prostitution of women, including an Indonesian national.

They pleaded not guilty to all offences when the charges were read before Judge Mohammed Mokhzani Mokhtar at the sessions court here today.

The offences fall under Section 372A of the Penal Code, and Section 372(1)(f) of the same Code, which carry a maximum 15 years’ jail, with whipping and a fine, or both, upon conviction.

For the first offence, Khairul, a medical graduate from a university in Egypt, was slapped with four charges, while Mohyuddin, a polytechnic graduate, faced five charges.

For the second offence, Khairul, who is waiting for his housemanship, faced seven charges and Mohyuddin, who worked in the hospitality industry, was issued two charges.

The duo was also jointly-charged with three and two counts of the same offence, allegedly committed at several hotels near here, between May last year and Jan this year.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Abazafree Mohd, while prosecuting, asked that no bail be offered to the accused, as the offences are non-bailable.

Both of them were unrepresented.

The court did not offer bail for both of the accused and fixed April 18 for mention.

The duo also faces 54 charges under the same offences after they claimed trial at the sessions court on March 8.
