Two friends charged with possessing and producing fake RM100 bank notes

ALOR SETAR: Two friends were today charged at the Sessions court with possessing and producing counterfeit RM100 bank notes at a house in Pokok Sena last month. The accused, Ahmad Helmi Osman, 26, and Intan Zaleha Mohd Zaki, 24, pleaded not guilty when the charges read before Juraidah Abas. For the first charge, Ahmad Helmi and Intan Zaleha were charged with possessing six counterfeit RM100 notes, while for the second charge, the duo was accused of possessing various items allegedly used for producing them. Ahmad Helmi, who also worked as a mechanic in Kuala Lumpur, was also charged with possessing three fake RM100 bank notes. They were accused of committing the offence at a house in Kampung Budi, Mukim Lesong, Pokok Sena, on Aug 4 at 3pm. They were charged under Section 489 (C) of the Penal Code which carries a maximum penalty of 10-year imprisonment, and Section Section 489 (D) of the same code which caries a maximum jail term of 20 years. Court granted a RM8,000 for the joint-charges for each of the accused and RM4,000 for the third charge against Ahmad Helmi.
