Two men charged for murder for two separate cases

Two men were charged in court on Friday for two separate murder cases.

Loh Suan Lit (pictured above, in grey), 47, was charged for the murder of former temple medium Tan Poh Huat, 53, at the Chin Long King Chinese Temple on 14 February, while Khor Tzoong Meng, 50, was charged for the murder of Ang Kim Keat, 38, in Hougang on Thursday morning (25 Feb).

Both will be remanded by the police to assist with investigations for the separate cases.

Temple murder

Loh, who appeared in court wearing a grey top, was accused of murdering Tan between 2:30am and 3:30am at the temple, located at 2 Teck Whye Lane.

The victim was a bookie’s runner, and was carrying $10,000, according to media reports. He had been living in the temple for five years, and was also a member of the temple’s executive committee.

A pest control worker discovered the body on the same day after he saw a two-metre trail of blood leading to the deceased.

Loh kept his head bowed as the charge was being read to him in Mandarin.

The police are working to retrieve stolen property.

Hougang murder

Khor, who appeared in court wearing a long sleeved shirt, was charged for murdering Ang at the void deck of Block 23 Hougang Avenue 3.

Lawyer Josephus Tan, who is representing Khor, told Yahoo Singapore that the accused works part-time at a coffee shop in Hougang.

Khor’s 52-year-old brother refused to give his full name, said he had no idea what was going on until the charge was read in court on Friday. He added that he and his other siblings are still “slowly” trying to break the news to their mother.

If found guilty, both of the accused will face the mandatory death penalty under Section 302 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224.The next hearing for both cases will take place on 4 March.
