Two men have been fined for feeding pigeons in two separate cases, said the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singaore (AVA).

V Rajandran, 62, was fined $450 on one count for feeding pigeons with bread crumbs at the void deck of Blk 145 Potong Pasir Avenue 2, according to an AVA press release on Tuesday (3 July).

In the other case, Abdul Aziz Saik Mohamed, 68, was fined $1500 on five counts for continuously feeding pigeons despite having received several warnings from AVA. He had been feeding pigeons at a grass verge near a “No feeding” signboard at Blk 825 Woodlands Street 81 on multiple occasions.

The two men have previously been fined for a similar offence on four and two occasions, respectively.

“Pigeon feeding in any premises or public place, including at HDB estates, is an offence. The presence of feeders provides a regular source of food which may lead to pigeons congregating in the area,” said the AVA.

Anyone caught pigeon feeding can be fined up to $500 under the Animals and Birds (Pigeons) Rules.
