Two police officers injured in accident after car evades road block

A car chase in the wee hours of Friday (2 June) ended in an accident involving a car and a police vehicle along Normanton Park.

Two police officers were also taken to hospital.

In response to media queries, the police confirmed that a road block was conducted along Mackenzie Road on 2 June at 1am.

A 43-year old driver refused to comply with officers’ instructions at the road block and sped off, said the police.

In the ensuring pursuit, there was an accident involving the male driver’s car and a police vehicle along Normanton Park. Yahoo Singapore understands that more than six or seven police vehicles were involved in the car chase.

The male car driver and his 34-year-old female passenger were subsequently arrested for drug and traffic-related offences, said the police.

Investigations are ongoing.

The two police officers were conscious when conveyed to the National University Hospital, said the police. Yahoo Singapore understands that both officers suffered minor injuries and both have been discharged from hospital.

Just a day ago, traffic police officer Nadzrie Matin died in an accident along Serangoon Road while performing his duties.
