New two-room flats oversubscribed on launch day

HDB's September BTO exercise has attracted steady demand from applicants on the first day of launch, but interest remains sky-high from singles looking for new two-room flats.

As of 5pm today, the 192 two-room flats available for sale at Matilda Edge in Punggol received a total of 323 applications, which translates to an oversubscription rate of nearly 1.7 times, according to published figures on the housing board's website.

Specifically, there are about five single applicants vying for every two-room flat in the project and only 30 percent of those units are reserved for singles.

Singles wanting to buy a unit should be at least 35-years-old and have a monthly income not exceeding S$5,000. The selling price of two-roomers in the latest exercise starts from S$81,000, excluding housing grants.

The application period closes on 2 October.
