Tyga has the hairline everyone wants, according to his hair surgeon

Last week, things got personal on Twitter when Nicki Minaj said she paid $10,000 for her ex-boyfriend Safaree Samuels’s hair transplant, which she says later receded to its old ways due to karma. In the midst of the ex-lovers’ social media spat, Minaj exposed Tyga’s personal hair woes when she tweeted that her ex went to the same hair restoration surgeon as the rapper.

Samuels quickly fact-checked Minaj’s allegation, noting that he didn’t go to the same doctor and the price tag of the procedure was, in fact, $12,000. “1st off Me and tyga didn’t go to the same dr. We did it the same day,” he tweeted.


Tyga then confirmed his own procedure when he posted the contact information of hair transplant surgeon Craig Ziering on his Twitter page. “The [plug]. Tellem Tyga sent you,” he tweeted. Photos of the rapper’s impressive before and after hair quickly made the rounds on social media, and we spoke with the doctor Tyga endorsed about the most popular hairline among his male patients.

Ziering specializes in hair restoration surgeries and treats a wide range of patients — men and women from the age of 16 to the late 80s — and has offices in Beverly Hills and New York City, so it’s no surprise that Tyga called him up for a consultation. “I’m known for doing a lot of celebrities’ hair restoration procedures,” Ziering tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “I’ve probably done more African-American patients than anyone in the world.”

When asked about Tyga’s social media plug, Ziering says, “I’m apparently ‘his guy.'”


The bicoastal hair surgeon says the most common request among his black male patients is perfecting hairlines to achieve “really sharp, crisp edges.” He describes the look as a really “clean” horizontal hairline across the forehead with “sharp, straight-edged” temple peaks to balance the face.

Ziering attributes the popularity of hair restoration among millennials partially to social media and celebrities. “A lot will come in and say ‘I want that,'” he says of his younger patients. “And celebrities will see that other celebrities get it done and they’ll ask each other.”

Although his business is mostly word of mouth — “My celebrity clientele has been extremely good at sharing the information with their circle of friends” — Tyga’s recent support has only boosted Ziering’s popularity, it also shows no signs of slowing down. “Tyga has a lot of followers on Twitter and Instagram, so we’ve gotten a lot more followers and a lot more inquiries.”
