The UK can expect warm weather and sunny spells across most of the country for its second weekend in lockdown.

Temperatures will reach as high as 20C in some areas, according to forecasters.

“It is getting warmer and sunnier, particularly if you are in the south,” a Met Office spokesperson told The Independent.

“The weather will pick up as we go through Saturday,” Nicky Maxey said, adding that Sunday will be the warmest day.

Southern parts of the country can expect sunshine across both days, according to the Met Office forecast.

The sunny weather will move towards northern and eastern areas on Sunday, with Scotland and Northern Ireland largely remaining cloudy.

Temperatures will also start feeling warmer for those venturing outside into their gardens or for daily exercise during the second weekend in lockdown over the UK's coronavirus outbreak.

London could reach 20C on Sunday, along with other areas of the southeast, the Met Office spokesperson told The Independent.

Manchester and Birmingham could potentially also see similar temperatures, while Newcastle could peak at 18C or 19C, according to Ms Maxey said.

The warmer weather expected is “well above average for this time of year”, she said.

Coral, a bookmaker, have even made it odds on at 1-3 that the UK to see its hottest day of the year this weekend.

As Sunday draws to a close, however, showers are forecast across western parts of the country as the sunny weather starts to cloud over elsewhere.
