Ukrainian Armed Forces repel Russian breakthrough attempts, 72 clashes reported in past day – General Staff

The General Staff reported 72 combat engagements on March 29, highlighting Russian activity in attempts to breach Ukrainian defenses particularly in the Novopavlivka and Avdiivka sectors, according to a Facebook post on March 30.

General Staff reported that:

  • In Kupyansk area, the enemy did not conduct any offensive actions.

  • In Lyman sector, 16 attacks were repelled near Terny in Donetsk Oblast and Bilohorivka in Luhansk Oblast, where enemy with the support of aviation, tried to break through Ukrainian defense.

  • In Bakhmut area, four attacks were repelled in the vicinity of Klishchiyivka and Andriivka in Donetsk Oblast.

  • In Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 20 attacks in the vicinity of Berdychi, Umanske, Tonenke, Semenivka, Pervomaiske and Nevelske, where the enemy with significant air support, tried to drive Ukrainian units out of their positions.

  • In Novopavlivka area, Armed Forces continue to hold back the enemy near Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka and Vodiane in Donetsk Oblast, where enemy tried to break through Ukrainian defense 25 times.

  • In Orikhiv sector, Russians launched four unsuccessful attacks on the positions of Ukrainian defenders near Staromayorske in Donetsk Oblast and northwest of Verbove in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

  • In Kherson area, enemy tryed to recapture Ukrainian foothold on the left bank of Dnipro 3 times.

Russian troops continue to attack civilian targets and heavilly shell Ukrainian positions. Enemy launched a total of 38 missile and 75 air strikes, used multiple rocket launcer systems 98 times over the day. Russians also launched suicide drones in the Ukrainian sky at night.

At the same time, during the day, Ukrainian aviation struck one control center, one air defense unit, and ten areas where Russian personnel, weapons, and military equipment were concentrated.

Ukrainian missile attacks struck two areas with high concentration of military personnel, two air defense systems and an artillery unit.
