A group of Russian soldiers was captured by the Ukrainian marines during a counterattack on the town of Vovchansk, Kharkiv Oblast, the 36th Separate Marine Brigade, named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Bilynskyi, reported on Facebook on June 6.

“We are replenishing the exchange fund for the return of our brothers (comrades) from Russian torture chambers!” the post said.

This follows an earlier report by the State Border Guard Service on June 5 that one Russian soldier had been captured in a building in Vovchansk. And a June 2 report by the Khortytsia military command that some 60 Russian soldiers had been captured near the town.

On June 3, the U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War reported that Ukrainian troops had recently pushed back the Russians in the center of Vovchansk.
