JERLUN: Umno Information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa today urged all 191 Umno divisions nationwide to make use of the 'Malaysia 4all' mobile app to better equip themselves with the latest government information and explanations on current issues.

Annuar said the app is crucial to helping Umno members better understand government initiatives, while at the same time, providing facts and information with which to counter allegations made by the opposition.

"I want to see at least 1,000 Umno members at each divisional level download the app on their smartphone.

"If each of the members share the information with at least two groups in their social media accounts, the reports will reach at least two million people.

"We are releasing at least four news updates on a daily basis through the app, and I want to make sure that our members make full use of the important information," he told reporters after opening the Jerlun Umno division veterans annual general meeting, and a meeting with the division leadership in Kampung Tanjung, Padang Sera, here today.

Annuar said the app is part of Umno's move to up its game in the cyber-psychological war to spread information, and to counter issues raised by opposition parties.

He said for now, the app, which has been downloaded by some 3,000 users, is only available to Umno members, but will be open to the public at a later stage.

"We must not just be spectators, as the opposition makes good use of social media platforms to attack the government. We must make an effort,” he added.

Annuar said the party will reward each Umno division which records 1,000 Malaysia 4all downloads by May 11 this year with five smartphones with a free telco line.
