Umno MP questioned in graft probe into government-linked firm

An Umno MP was taken in for questioning by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), a source familiar with the matter said. The source said the MP, who is a director in a government-linked corporation (GLC), had allegedly abused his position for personal gain. The source who confirmed the matter said the federal lawmaker was picked up along with seven others this morning. The GLC where the lawmaker is a director has been investigated by MACC in connection with a purchase of a multi-million ringgit hotel in London. According to news reports, the anti-graft agency had in March this year arrested a top official of the company as well as another person acting as a middleman to assist in further investigations. The same GLC was also linked to the purchase of a hotel in Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan, and MACC had arrested another top official of the firm over embezzlement of funds for the hotel. – October 6, 2015.
