KOTA BARU: Datuk Seri Najib Razak says there is every possibility of a cooperation between Umno and Pas ahead of the 14th General Election.
However, the prime minister said that for now, the two parties are carrying out their respective roles without any cooperation.
Najib also acknowledged that while it will not be an easy task to contest in Kelantan in GE14, Umno Kelantan will nevertheless make the necessary preparations and mobilise the best election machinery possible.
“We must work hard, we trust that Umno will not practice negative politics but instead, show a positive example. As for the rest, that will be up to the people of Kelantan to decide,” he said.
The prime minister was speaking at a press conference at the Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) before attending a Transformasi Nasional (TN50) programme here.
Also present were Kelantan Umno information chief Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, and Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.
Asked on whether Umno plans to capture Kelantan in the upcoming general election, Najib said Umno wishes to be known as the party which is chosen by the people.
“We are not talking about capturing the state or otherwise. What we aim to do is show to everyone that Umno is a responsible part, the best party, so that the people of Kelantan can decide,” he said.
