KOTA KINABALU: Umno Sabah kick-started the party’s 71st anniversary celebrations by flagging off 300 participants of a run from the Sepanggar Umno office at Alamesra, this morning.
Flagged-off by Umno treasurer, Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak and Karambunai assemblyman, Datuk Jainab Ahmad Ayid, the 12km-run is also being held to communicate the message that the people of Sabah love Umno.
State Umno youth chief, Yamani Hafez Musa, who is also organising chairman of the programme, said the first leg of the run will end at Jalan Salut.
“The run will continue with a few more legs – from Tuaran, and passing through Kota Belud, Kota Marudu and Kudat,” he said.
It is understood that similar activities will be held over the next few days, involving 25 divisions, comprising members from the Wanita, Puteri and Pemuda wings.
Also present at the run flag-off was Sepanggar acting Umno division chief, Datuk Yakub Khan.
