KUALA LUMPUR: Have you ever received a call from an unidentified, foreign number?
If you do not know anyone from that country, you may not want to pick up the call as it is most likely to be a scam.
In a recent Facebook post by Alan Lim who shared his experience receiving such calls at odd hours have gained attention of Netizens and that post has been shared by more than 7,000 people.
Following his post, many other Netizens have also stepped up, sharing their own similar experience about these unidentified overseas calls. Most took to sharing screenshots of the call with the number, time, and country recorded. Some of these countries include Italy, Belgium, Brazil, United Kingdom and Maldives.
Many stated that they have ignored these calls especially when it comes in at odd hours while those who did pick up the calls said it was just silence on the other end of the line.
One Netizen however, a Jes Lai, stated a woman told her that her friend is in trouble and requested her to transfer some cash into an account.
Lai however managed to tell that it was a scam and refused to make the transfer.
It was not clear how the scam works but many have expressed their concerns and warned their friends not pick up the calls.
