United Russia politician accused of abuse as wife found dead

Anastasia Demina, the wife of Valery Demin, a United Russia party deputy from Moscow died after accusing her husband of domestic violence, Russian Telegram channel Baza reported on May 8.

Anastasia Demina, aged 42, reportedly died on May 6. She was a member of the Rostokino District Council of Municipal Deputies.

In late February, she accused her husband, who had recently returned from the war in Ukraine, of beating her, according to the Telegram channel.

Her family said she filed a police report after the assault but later withdrew it on advice from her colleagues.
