From now until the end of 2017, customers of United Overseas Bank (UOB) and Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation (OCBC) can withdraw money from the ATMs of the other bank, and vice-versa, free of charge as many times as they want, media reports say.

In the past, customers of either bank were granted two free withdrawals per month from the other bank’s ATMs, and charged S$0.30 per transaction after that.

According to reports, the promotion is to spread awareness of the shared ATM network that has been in place for close to 30 years.

The two banks operate more than 1,200 ATMs nationwide, with more than 5 million cross-bank transactions between them in 2016.
