Lexus is preparing to launch its updated CT200h hybrid premium hatchback in Singapore next month, and the facelifted version of Lexus’ entry-level model will boast a series of substantial changes to keep it refreshed in the highly-competitive luxury car market here.

Among the changes include a mild redesign that incorporates Lexus’ family ‘spindle’ grille, as well as new lights front and rear. The result is a sportier looking car that keeps the CT200h in line with the rest of the Lexus range.

Inside, the interior has also been given a minor reworking, with a new steering wheel design, and an all-new multimedia system, both of which have been ‘borrowed’ from the IS sedan. There are subtle improvements to material quality as well, all designed to give the CT a more ‘premium’ looking cabin.

There are also improvements under the skin of the updated CT200h, with Lexus claiming that the car is now more stiffer and rigid than before, which contributes to a better ride and handling balance. The Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) gearbox has also been revised, and Lexus says that it is now smoother and quieter than the previous version.

Local Lexus distributor Borneo Motors declined to reveal full details of the updated CT200h, other than hinting at a mid-April arrival in Singapore, but it is expected that the car will cost about the same as the existing model, which currently retails for $233,000 in Premium trim, including COE.
