UPDATE: The Singapore Police Force released an appeal for information on Woods on Wednesday afternoon at 1pm.

A United States Navy seaman has gone missing in Singapore since earlier this week.

According to a thread posted on social site Reddit on Tuesday by user jms428, the sailor’s name is Seth Woods. Woods had reportedly gone missing after visiting an undisclosed 7-Eleven outlet with a friend after they got off their ship on Sunday.

The thread author claimed to be a distant cousin of Woods. He wrote, “His friend went to 7-11 and he went to a smoking area to vape. When his friend came back he was gone it’s been over 30 hours.”

According to the Singapore Police Force in an appeal for information, Woods, 18, was last seen in the vicinity of Raffles Boulevard and Temasek Boulevard on 8 May at about 8am.

A woman calling herself Jodi Brown and claiming to be Woods’ sister posted the sailor’s photo on Facebook on Tuesday (8 May) appealing for information. “My brother is currently missing in Singapore he has been missing for 30hrs so if anyone hears from him please let my family know.. we don’t know much info but his shipmates are looking,” she wrote.

According to media reports, the US Navy is aware of the situation and is working with the local authorities to locate Woods.
