This Is Us spoilers follow.

This Is Us ended its fourth season with a horrendous falling out between Randall (Sterling K Brown) and Kevin Pearson (Justin Hartley), as the brothers disagreed on whether their mother Rebecca (Mandy Moore) should have joined the Alzheimer's study, which Randall talked her into.

That fallout will be one of the biggest plotlines going into season 5, and actress Susan Kelechi Watson — who plays Randall's wife Beth — has teased where both the brothers and some of the show's other characters will be heading next.

Talking about Randall and Kevin's animosity, Susan told Entertainment Weekly: "It's between them and [Beth is] a little bit on the periphery of it, but you have to let the cards fall where they fall."

She also explained that she doesn't expect the fight to be resolved quickly either, adding: "If you went there, you have to let the dust settle."

Meanwhile, the actress also teased that we will see more of Tess and Deja "getting older and trying to fit in", adding that the show will also see Annie "trying to find her voice, where she wants to go, where she wants to be".

As for Beth herself, Susan teased that her character's story will slowly build towards the dance studio that we first saw in the flash forward scenes.

"I feel like there's a lot of Pearson family stuff coming up," she added, "and growing pains are happening — we're dealing with that."

Regarding Beth and Randall as a couple, Susan said that she would love to see the pair rediscover their original connection, and expressed her desire for an episode where they try and make time for each other in spite of everything that's in their way.

"I would love an episode where Beth and Randall really try to have a date night or try to really connect and keep missing each other maybe, but then eventually find each other in like the most unusual way," she explained.

Of course, the show has never shied away from addressing social issues or exploring issues related to race too and season 5 will be no different, with Susan explaining that she hopes the show "attacks it in an even stronger way directly related to the Black Lives Matter thing".

"That's something that I'm very passionate about," she added.

This Is Us airs on NBC in the US. The show is available on Amazon Prime in the UK.
