US witnesses partial lunar eclipse, longest since 1440

The longest partial lunar eclipse in nearly 600 years, which bathed the Moon in red and obscured 99 percent of its face, is seen in Los Angeles on Friday. The spectacle was visible for all of North America and parts of South America, and later in Polynesia, Australia and northeast Asia.
