Usher's afro woes

Usher's mom has signed a petition for him to cut his hair.

The 35-year-old singer has grown his thick locks out into a small afro.

While some may think it makes him look more handsome, some of his family and friends disagree.

Usher has posted a snap on Instagram showing a piece of paper signed with several names, the top being his mother Jonetta Patton.

"We the people united declare that you, Usher Raymond IV, must cut that hair off. Now. Yesterday," they wrote.

Some of his fans quickly defended their idol's appearance.

User nyrasenai wrote: "A fro, dreads, bald...whatever or however you wear your hair...I'm a supporter. #wannadancewithu (sic)"

The reason why the musician grew his hair out was to play boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard in the movie biopic Hands of Stone. The film, directed by Jonathan Jakubowicz, is due out later this year.

One loyal supporter tried to explain this to those commenting on the picture.

Usher previously spoke about how he was willing to change his looks to portray the sportsman accurately.

"My commitment to this character demands that I not only physically get ready, but also become him. The hair, the personality, the manner he conducts himself in - all that. He's an incredible man," he previously told Men's Health magazine.

He also revealed his gruelling exercise regime. In order to get on the same level of physical fitness as Sugar Ray, Usher spent a lot of time working out.

"I train like an athlete every day, believe it or not," he added.

Driving a $900,000 Porsche 918 Spyder to the future

It’s more than just its inherent speed, or the whooshing noise that fills the cabin like a school choir jamming with James Hetfield. It’s what it represents in an industry full of skeptics. It’s a portal into the future – a time capsule left by some mad scientist born decades too soon. It’s something that shouldn’t exist. And yet it does.
