Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli and acclaimed filmmaker Luca Guadagnino are collaborating on a film together.

Named The Staggering Girls, the movie stars Julianne Moore, Mia Goth and Kiki Layne.

It tells the story of Francesca, an Italian-American writer (played by Moore), who lives in New York and has to return back home to Rome to retrieve her ageing mother.

Guadagnino is best-known for his film Call Me By Your Name, but also has experience in the fashion world after directing and producing short films and adverts for Fendi, Giorgio Armani, Cartier and Salvatore Ferragamo.

He will collaborate with cinematographer Sayombhu Mukdeeprom once more, who he worked on the Oscar-nominated coming-of-age love story. Oscar-winning composer Ryuichi Sakamoto will create the music for the film.

Picciolo and Guadagnino will premiere The Staggering Girls at a special screening in Paris tomorrow. The film will be released globally on 15 February.
