A van driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries after crashing into a police car.

Norfolk Police said the collision occurred as the force assisted a broken-down vehicle on the A47 at Terrington St John, near King’s Lynn, at about 16:14 GMT on Thursday.

The crash closed the road for several hours.

The force said it had referred the incident to its professional standards department, which was "standard procedure".
