‘Expect to live an extraordinary life’ at Vertu Resort with space, style and comfort; one of the longest resident swimming pools in Asia; and some of Penang’s finest residential facilities in 200,000-square-foot grounds. Layered with the rich texture of sustainable design and eco-principles, the condo development is designed to be ‘iconic, bold and green’.

A resort-inspired residential experience with five towers, Vertu Resort, set to complete in 2021, is designed in two clusters to create space whilst giving a wonderful feeling of privacy too. Located in what was not so long ago an agricultural village, Batu Kawan is blossoming into its own mini-city vibe, and one property development leader is pioneering the area’s transformation. The development is unique in that it is the first of its kind within the real estate company’s Aspen Vision City environs, an ‘intelligent and self-sustaining metropolis designed for living in the future, today’.

Winning Best Condo/Apartment Development (Penang) at the 6th annual PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Malaysia) in April 2019 is meaningful for visionary developers Aspen Group, partnering with IKEA Southeast Asia. Also collaborating with them on the project, DP Architects are responsible for the design and concept, with Arkitek LLA taking the reins to put these ambitious plans into place. Index Design is focused on the interiors, with landscape consultant DPG and landscape architect SCI concentrating on the complexity and aesthetics of the outdoor space.

Residents and visitors feel as if they have truly arrived with a lobby drop-off fashioned in the style of an upscale hotel. This element of relaxed vacation wellbeing continues throughout, with each floor home to just 8-12 units, evoking a boutique resort ambiance. Quality, style and architectural design stood out to the judges who also praised the development’s sustainability principles.

“The low-density layout of Vertu Resort will be appreciated by property seekers in Penang who value privacy, exclusivity and high-end aesthetics. The developers made sure that the project is also environment-friendly, meeting green certification standards.”

Nine versatile layouts include different sizes and designs for three- and four-bedroom units, with studio apartments are offered too with units ranging from 750-1800 square feet. Meanwhile, style is married with convenience through furnished units, flowing spaces, grand vistas and a development concept that fits within a wider context.

Strategically located for Penang Island and the mainland, the project is a haven of fun, relaxation and adventure: extending to a multitude of resident buildings from playrooms to function rooms, karaoke to yoga, a games room, aerobics, and a library. Outdoors, the focal point is undoubtedly the immense 152-metre pool. Grounds are filled with some 50 engaging features, including gardens, decks, pavilions and a BBQ area, plus playgrounds, a firefly pool, water feature, gym, and spa-like amenities. Quirky elements include a rock climbing adventure, as well as stepping stones and play streams.

The impressive eco-friendly elements incorporated into the design, construction and onward success afford a Green Building Index (GBI) certification for Sustainable Living.
