Vick Hope is joining BBC Radio 1 to present its Life Hacks show after leaving Capital Breakfast earlier in the year.

She's replacing Cel Spellman, who is looking to focus on other work although will remain "part of the Radio 1 family", according to the station.

Hope, 30, said of the new gig: "Joining the BBC Radio 1 family is an absolute dream come true.

Kate Thistleton also hosts the programme that discusses issues young people face, including mental health and careers.

As she shared the news on Instagram, Hope addressed the passing of Capital Breakfast producer Joe Lyons who died suddenly last week.

Describing it as an "extremely tough time" she divulged: "I took a step away from social media last week, and when the Radio 1 schedule was announced it just didn’t feel right to be sharing news of any sort. But as Ro said in his tribute on Monday, the show must go on."

The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant quit Capital Breakfast earlier in 2020 after three years on the show.

She tweeted at the time: "All good things come to an end and after 3 amazing years co-hosting Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp, alongside Sonny [Jay], I've made the decision that it is time to move onto pastures new.

"It has been a great privilege to present alongside two of my best friends in the world: Roman and Sonny have been like brothers to me and I think you are both so incredibly talented."
