KUALA LUMPUR: A video of massive brawl taking place in front of the Ampang Hospital in the wee hours of the morning on Labour Day has been making its rounds on social media.
In the video, a few men can be seen trying to flee the scene on motorcycles as another group of men chased after them on foot.
Then, in the next scene, the men on foot managed to catch up with one of the man on motorcycle. The motorcyclist could be seen being brutally beaten up by the group of men with a motorcycle helmet.
As the camera pans, another group can be seen pulling two other motorcyclists off their vehicle.
It is understood that a patrolling police managed to stop the fight at about 3.15am.
Ampang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Hamzah Alias said four officers who were patrolling the area saw a group of about 80 men fighting and ordered them to disperse.
“Police arrested two men, aged 28 and 33 during the commotion. The 33-year-old man who was wielding a parang was trying to run away but the team manage to chase him and seized the weapon,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958 for carrying weapons in public places.
He added police are tracking down the others under Section 148 of the Penal Code for possessing weapons at riot.
