KUALA LUMPUR: A video clip depicting an accident taking place near Cheras has raised the collective ire of Malaysian netizens.
Their anger is directed at the unknown driver of a black Proton Wira, whose reckless and dangerous driving caused the accident.
The 37-second video clip, uploaded on Facebook by Duncan Chong, appearing to be from a dashboard camera, captured the event as it unfolded.
The clip begins with an almost empty stretch of road. However, as a white van appears ahead, a black Proton Wira then enters the frame.
The driver of the Wira, speeding dangerously, overtakes Chong's car from the left. Then, with the white van in front of it, the Wira proceeds to swerve into the emergency lane, presumably in a bid to overtake the van from the left.
The reckless attempt fails. As the Wira attempts to zoom back from the emergency lane into the left lane, it clips the van, which flips and lands on its roof.
Debris is seen strewn on the road as cars brake to a halt to avoid the carnage up ahead.
At the time of writing, the video had 15,000 views and had been shared more than 300 times.
Facebook users vented their anger at the driver of the Wira, and urged police to take action against the man for his reckless act.
Chong, in his Facebook posting on the incident, said the driver of the van was a man in his 60s. The man, he said, suffered cuts from broken glass.
The Wira, meanwhile, sustained damage to its front rim.
The van driver was brought to the hospital. He is believed to be in good condition.
It is understood that a police report was lodged on the incident.
