Netizens have been left shocked by a video posted by the Malaysia Animal Association showing a band of neighborhood dog catchers in Pasir Gudang, Johor, and the rough manner in which they corralled the pups.
In the upsetting clip, those tasked with rounding up stray dogs can be seen kicking, hitting and punching the lovable animals, in manner that the animal activist group called “stupid” and “cruel.”
While dog culls are legal in Malaysia, there is a guideline that those capturing the canines must adhere to, and there is little room for violence following the Animal Welfare Act 2015. The animal association adds that the individuals in the clip should be investigated for unnecessary cruelty, “brought to court and sent to jail.”
The post has been shared nearly 600 times, with hundreds of comments calling for the incident to be investigated, and reminding the general public, that cruelty to animals is never acceptable.
