A video allegedly showing an Institute of Technical Education (ITE) College East student assaulting his schoolmate in one of the school’s toilets has been going viral on social media.

The clip, which is about a minute long, was posted by Facebook user Soniya Raj at about 9am on Thursday (16 February). It shows a male student crouching near a sink as another male student kicks and punches him while yelling in Tamil.

The victim is also seen crying and covering his face as his attacker continues to hit him. The video ends with the assailant leaving the toilet with a group of other males who appear to have also been in the toilet at the time.

The school’s principal, Dr Yek Tiew Ming, confirmed in an online statement that the incident took place on 8 February in a toilet at ITE College East.

“The victim has consulted a doctor and we are rendering our assistance to him. The assailant has been suspended.

“ITE takes a serious view of the matter and does not condone such acts. ITE College East will cooperate with police investigations,” he said.
