Aceh Earthquake Kills Dozens and Levels Buildings

At least 52 people were killed when a powerful 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia’s northern Aceh Province early on Wednesday morning, December 7.

Rescuers continued to search the rubble of mosques, homes and businesses leveled by the tremor that was focused around 12 miles southeast of Sigli, on the island of Sumatra.

The US Geological Survey said there was no risk of a tsunami following the earthquake.
