Apartment Building Collapses in Madrid

A Madrid apartment block collapsed on Monday morning, hours after residents were evacuated having reported hearing creaking noises around 4am. No one was injured when the building, which was built in the 1960s, collapsed around 9am, although some of the 36 evacuated residents were treated for panic attacks, according to Euronews.

A representative of the city’s Department of Sustainable Urban Development said that at least one of the pillars supporting the building had collapsed. Residents of the adjoining building were also evacuated. Credit: YouTube/Emergencias Madrid OFICIAL
