Attack on Philadelphia School Police Officers Caught on Camera

Philadelphia police are seeking the men who were caught on video assaulting school police officers outside a city school on Monday, May 2. Police released the video on Tuesday, asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the men in the video.

Police said two school police officers were escorting Northeast High School students away from the school at dismissal time when they observed two adults assaulting a student. The officers separated the two to stop the attack before an argument started between the officers and the suspects. One of the suspects then pushed and shoved the officers. When the officers defended themselves, police said, one of the suspects threw an officer to the ground. Another suspect punched the second officer, police said. A third man joined in the attack on the officers.

The three suspects fled the scene when other police officers arrived.

Local media reported one officer suffered a broken jaw and underwent surgery after being taken to the hospital. The second officer suffered a sprained ankle and bruising.

Police described one suspect as a black man standing at 5 feet, eight inches and weighing 185 pounds with a muscular build. He is thought to be 20 years old and has a dark complexion, dreadlocks and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and gray sweatpants, according to police.

The second suspect is described by police as a black man standing at five foot 10 inches with a muscular build. He is 20 years old with a medium complexion, blond and black hair, and wearing a green muscle t-shirt and red sweatpants, police said.
