Baltimore Protesters Torch Vehicles and Vandalize Shops

People set fire to vehicles and vandalized stores in downtown Baltimore on Monday, April 27 after a protest turned violent. Police in riot gear clashed with a group of what appeared to be teenagers near Mondawmin Mall before spilling into the area neighborhoods. This footage shows vehicles on fire.

Police were on scene after fliers circulated calling for a potentially violent protest. The mall and most area businesses closed ahead of the scheduled event.

Police reported seven officers were injured, including one who was unconscious. Police said they would use tear gas and pepper balls to try to control the unrest.

The unrest unfolded hours after the funeral of Freddie Gray, who died in police custody. This came came two days after confrontations between police and protesters broke out outside Orioles Park at Camden Yards during what had been otherwise peaceful demonstration. Credit: Instagram/17thsoulja4
