Celtic Cross Appears in Irish Forest When Viewed From Above

A mysterious Celtic cross appeared in the middle of a Donegal forest during October, and was first noticed by airline passengers flying into Derry.

According to reporting by the Irish Post, the cross at Bogay Hill was planted by forester Liam Emmery, who created the effect using two different types of trees.

Emmery died six years before the cross was discovered, and his wife told UTV that she had forgotten about the plantation.

“If he was here, we would have all heard about it because he would have been so proud,” Mrs Emmery said. “He just loved things to be perfect,” she said, “And I think the Celtic Cross is perfect for him.” Credit: Darren Sheaffer
