Clean-Up Efforts Continue in Italy After Devastating Earthquake

The fire service in central Italy on Sunday, August 28, published video and photos showing efforts to recover personal and culturally significant items from damaged buildings in the wake of a devastating earthquake that left 291 people dead. About 230 of those killed came from the small town of Amatrice, where Italian president Sergio Mattarella visited on August 27.

The photos below were originally published here on August 28. The video was reportedly captured in Tufo, an area which does not appear in news reports about the earthquake. The photos show the recovery of cultural objects from the ruins in Pescara del Tronto, according to the fire service. Credit: Vigili del Fuoco
