Costa Rica’s Turrialba Volcano Erupts, Spewing Gas and Ash

Costa Rica’s Turrialba volcano spewed emissions of gas, steam and ash on Wednesday, May 6, after an earlier eruption on May 4 sent ash one-and-a-half miles into the sky over the country’s capital San Jose, according to reports. The Turrialba volcano is currently the most active in Costa Rica, with eruptions causing frequent airport closures since October 2014.
