Dozens Charged Over Violent Lunar New Year Clashes in Mong Kok

Dozens of people were charged on February 11 in connection with violent protests between demonstrators and police on February 8, in the Mong Kok district of Hong Kong. The violence broke out after Food and Environmental Hygiene Department officials cracked down on illegal street food hawkers at a Chinese New Year market in the busy district. Police arrested 64 people during the protests and 37 were charged on February 11.
