Energy Workers Protest Pay Delays and Job Losses in Romania

About 100 workers at Romania’s Autonomous Administration for Nuclear Activities (RAAN), an energy and nuclear research body in Drobeta Turnu Severin, protested on July 27 against a delay in payments and future job losses. The employees repeatedly used a zebra-crossing on the town’s Tudor Vladimirescu boulevard, blocking traffic.

Protests reportedly also took place from July 13-17, after the failure of the government to provide liquidation pay to the some 2,400 employees in advance of RAAN’s planned closure later this year. Credit: Facebook/Impact de Mehedinti
