Evacuations Expand for California's Sand Fire

A wildfire near Santa Clarita, California, continued to grow on Sunday, July 24, as more people were forced from their homes. The fire stood at 22,000 acres on Sunday and was 10 percent contained, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Officials had hoped to allow people back to their homes on Sunday, but a wind shift precluded their return. Instead, the fire department issued more evacuation orders. The fire had already destroyed 18 homes and threatened 2,000 more, according to a news report. Credit: Instagram/Tyler Celio
