Fort McMurray Homes Reduced to Rubble in Aftermath of Wildfire

Fort McMurray’s Beacon Hill neighbourhood was filled with debris and rubble on Thursday, May 5, after a 85,000-hectare wildfire, which began a day earlier, scorched the area. The Alberta government announced the banning of fire and incendiary targets across the province to reduce the risks of more blazes as the hot and dry weather persisted. Authorities evacuated the entire population of Fort McMurray as the fire torched homes and buildings.
