Ghana's Opposition Leader Makes Final Appeal to Voters Ahead of Elections

Supporters of Ghana’s opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) flocked to the final election rally on Sunday, December 4, ahead of the nation’s presidential and parliamentary elections on Wednesday.

The close contest between incumbent President John Dramani Mahama and his rival, NPP leader Nana Akufo-Addo, has been fought mainly around the country’s economy amid high inflation and unemployment rates. Last year, Ghana was forced to take out an almost $1 billion loan from the International Monetary Fund.

The country has also been crippled by a three-year electricity crisis, forcing factories to shut down. Credit: Facebook/Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo via Storyful
