'Hot Fire' Test of Antares Rocket Conducted in Virginia

A ‘hot fire’ test was conducted on the Antares rocket of its upgraded propulsion systems, engine and launch pad equipment on May 31 at NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia.

According to reports by Spaceflight Insider, the tests were done to verify that everything would function smoothly ahead of the rocket’s return to flight in summer 2016.

The tests and rebuilding of the rocket were spearheaded after the Antares’ failed launch in 2014. The rocket was meant to travel to the International Space Station before it exploded about fifteen seconds after liftoff on October 28. Credit: YouTube/NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility
