Israeli Forces Fire on Stone-Throwing Gaza Protesters

Israeli forces shot dead at least six Palestinians and wounded dozens more after a group of protesters threw stones at the eastern Gaza border fence on Friday, October 9. The protesters came out in solidarity with Palestinians in the West Bank after a week of escalating violence that saw a spate of attacks by Palestinians against Israelis and reprisals.

During Friday prayers, Hamas’ chief in Gaza, Ismail Haniyeh, described the violence as a new “intifada” and called for its "strengthening and increasing” as the “only path that will lead to liberation”.
