Lightning in Washington State Sparks Wildfires, Forcing Evacuations

Wildfires kindled by morning lightning strikes in Washington’s Chelan County were water-bombed by helicopters and at least one aircraft on Friday, August 14. County officials issued evacuation orders and closed roads. These videos show the fires burning above Lake Chelan, as well as helicopters fighting the blaze and a Bombardier 415 “Super Scooper” aircraft taking on water for drops.
