Manhunt for Illinois Police Shooting Suspects Enters Second Day

Police continued to hunt on September 2 for three men wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a Chicago suburban police officer, 24 hours after the incident. Police were on saturated patrols and the search area widened overnight, according to local media. Area schools also were closed on September 2 due to the manhunt.

Charles “Joe” Gliniewicz, a 30-year police veteran, was shot when he was investigating three suspicious people. They led him on a foot chase before he called for backup. Arriving officers found Gliniewicz with a gunshot wound.
