Mexican President Called 'Assassin' During Visit to Canada

Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto was heckled by a crowd that called him an ‘assassin’ at Toronto’s Casa Loma castle, where he was to eat dinner with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on June 27. This video shows Trudeau shaking hands with Peña Nieto while a crowd yells at him in front of the castle, prior to both men attending a banquet for 300 guests.

The epithet, translated by some sources as “murderer,” has followed Peña Nieto for several months, arising from his country’s long and bloody confrontations with drug dealers, and from his administration’s mishandling of the abduction of 43 students from Iguala. Credit: Facebook/NOVA VISION T.V.
