Officials Escort Evacuees South of Fire-Ravaged Fort McMurray

Authorities led convoys of evacuees south, passing through the fire-ravaged city of Fort McMurray, on Friday, May 6, on their way to safer spots south of the fire area. With the fire topping 100,000 hectares (250,000 acres) and expected to double over the weekend, the convoys were forced to stop on occasion as fire burned too close to the only highway to safety, local media reported.
