Opposition Protesters Stage Sit-in in Islamabad

A sit-in outside the Pakistani Parliament House in Islamabad continued on September 8, as the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) party held talks with the government. Anti-government protesters loyal to opposition leader Imran Khan and cleric Tahirul Qadri are demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who they have accused of ballot rigging.

According to Radio Free Europe, progress has been made in negotiations between PTI and the government since talks began this weekend.
